Common questions
Does SnowbirdDays send my location anywhere?
No. Your location history stays on this device. The only outbound request the app makes on its own is a periodic hash submission to a public RFC 3161 timestamp authority (FreeTSA). The request body contains a 32-byte SHA-256 hash and an 8-byte nonce. It contains no location, no name, no email, and no app account identifier. FreeTSA and network operators may receive ordinary transport metadata such as IP address and request time. See the Privacy Policy for the full disclosure.
How do I delete my data?
Open the app, go to Settings → Delete All Data, and confirm. That wipes every record, setting, exported file, and cached file the app created. Uninstalling the app from your home screen also removes everything except your App Store subscription, which is managed by Apple in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
Is SnowbirdDays a substitute for a CPA?
No. SnowbirdDays produces records, not legal determinations. Day counts are observations of where the device was — not a conclusion about where you legally resided. Residency decisions depend on facts well beyond day counts (domicile, intent, source of income, family ties, jurisdiction-specific rules). Always consult a qualified CPA, tax attorney, or audit professional before relying on the app's output for any tax or legal purpose.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
Your existing data stays on your device, and you can still read your history, import data, and export it. New automatic recording, new manual entries, and threshold alerts pause until you resubscribe. There is a 7-day grace banner in the app so a missed renewal does not immediately disrupt the flow.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iOS, choose SnowbirdDays, and tap Cancel Subscription. We do not process payments or handle cancellations directly.
What devices and iOS versions are supported?
SnowbirdDays runs on iPhone and iPad on iOS 18 and later. We do not support iOS 17 or earlier in the current release.
How do I verify the Audit Evidence file?
SnowbirdDays exports an Audit Evidence JSON artifact that a tax
preparer or auditor can verify offline. The
